| United Cerebral
Palsy enlists TalentKeepers to improve retention
of nurses and direct-care healthcare employees
Improving the retention
of nurses and a variety of other healthcare workers
will help reduce the substantial costs of turnover
and ensure more funds are available for providing
vital clinical services and patient care.
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -October
23, 2002. TalentKeepers, the award-winning employee
retention company, announced today it will begin
working with United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida/Georgia
to increase the retention of nurses and other
direct-care healthcare employees in their 120
locations throughout the region. Over 90 percent
of UCP’s 1,600 employees are directly involved
in providing healthcare services.
Established in 1947, UCP's
mission is to positively affect the quality of
life for persons with cerebral palsy and other
developmental disabilities, to meet their multiple
needs and those of their families, and to prevent
developmental disabilities and minimize their
effects. This mission is accomplished through
a wide range of residential, outpatient, in-home
and other programs. Maintaining a stable and talented
staff is critical to providing these services
as well as ensuring resources are dedicated to
providing services rather than being spent on
recruiting, selecting and training new employees.
"Retaining and developing
our talented team is critical to our ability to
provide consistent, high-quality services to our
patients and their families. The TalentKeepers
program will help us meet that objective, develop
our leaders, and keep UCP a great place to work,"said
Dr. Joseph Aniello, President and CEO
TalentKeepers will implement
RetentionWorks, its award-winning solution, to
centers throughout the region. RetentionWorks
is designed to build awareness, competence and
support throughout an organization to improve
retention. UCP leaders will develop core retention
competencies that will help build a climate of
trust, open communication, pride, and high performance
in the centers. The process actively engages healthcare
providers themselves by teaching them to coach
each other to stay. Periodic surveys and tracking
reports will help UCP executives keep in touch
with parts of the organization which might be
particularly vulnerable to turnover, allowing
for pre-emptive action to be taken. The entire
solution is Web-based, simplifying and speeding
implementation to all 120 centers.
"We are very proud of
the opportunity to support UCP in their efforts
to provide the highest possible care and help
create mutual loyalty and commitment with its
employees,"added Dick Finnegan, President
of TalentKeepers.
